Tuxedo fitting, Guy's Night Out

THis morning we went over to Tim’s house. We visited with Tim, Heather and Heather’s family, before heading out to pick up the tuxedos for the wedding on Saturday. It was really exciting to see the guys getting all dressed. IT sure makes a wedding real, putting on a tuxedo! Aiden looked really cute in his mini tux. The men looked quite handsome. Tim’s pants were too long and his sleeves too short, so they have to re-order his for us to pick up tomorrow. It pays to plan this stuff early! That way we get a second chance for everything to fit.

After we finished at the tux shop, we went next door and got the kids’ haircuts cleaned up nice and spiffy for the wedding. They did the boys’ sideburns and trimmed them up a little bit. They behaved very well at the salon. They didn’t squirm, cry or complain. They were rewarded with a lollipop after they were all done!

Aiden's turn!

Then Tim introduced us to a really good Mexican restaurant in the vicinity – Abuelo’s. It was really tasty. We had lunch there, then headed back to Tim’s place.

Aiden really wanted to try Tim’s R2D2 unit at the house. Tim has a mini version of R2D2 that follows voice commands. Aiden would say, “Hey R2”, then ask him to do different things like repeat back Princess Leia’s distress message, dance, or patrol. If you ask R2 if he remembers Darth Vader, he starts shaking and making little squeak sounds! It’s really cute. Heather got Tim the R2 unit last Christmas when we were all celebrating at Vavo and Vavu’s house.

After nap time, the guys went out with Tim to celebrate at PowerPlay, an indoor amusement park not too far from here. The kids had a really good time and came back with lots of goodies. They mostly did all of the games where you collect tickets. There were a bunch of adults that just kept handing their tickets that they were winning to the kids. By the end of the night, Aiden and Jeremy had 1100 tickets.

Maria spent her time picking up some last minute items for the wedding: black socks, undershirts, that sort of thing. She also visited the mother of all scrapbook stores: Archiver’s. We don’t have an Archiver’s in California, so it was quite a treat. Maria showed great restraint in not buying one single solitary item. But it was still fun to look!

The kids came back from PowerPlay around 10pm so they could go to sleep. Then the other guys headed back to Tim’s place to play Ticket to Ride and hang out for the rest of the night. They played Fluxx 4 times, and everyone won once. Then they played Ticket to Ride and Tim won. Dionne and Vito, Vavo and Vavu, and the rest of the gang were all there. Everyone else is flying in tomorrow.

Overall, it was a really nice day. The weather was great and we had lots of fun activities. Tomorrow is the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It’s getting close! :-)

Wow! That was SOME restraint! Good job! That's nice that all the boys were able to go out together. Nice-y. :)
